Presbyterian Women Podcast Recording - April 2023
Ahead of Presbyterian Women’s Annual Conference in May 2023, this podcast considers the conference theme, Being Transformed which is based on Romans 12:2 - “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
We want to consider ways in which we can be transformed in Christ as we study God’s Word, take it to heart and put it into practice.
We will think about how can we get into God’s Word for ourselves and what are some of the obstacles and pitfalls. We also want to think about how we can live transformed lives that make a difference in our broken world.

This event was for anyone who is involved in leading a women's ministry/PW group or serving on the committee.
This webinar hopes to come alongside those involved in leading Presbyterian Women’s groups, encouraging them to press on as they live for Jesus, serving him in whatever ways they find possible, still being His disciples and making disciples.

Presbyterian Women’s Leadership Forum 2020
The PW Forum normally meets twice a year – usually in September and February. Forum is crucial in the two-way communication between the PW Panel and PW LINKs. It is an educational and a motivational body that equips, enthuses and empowers women to serve Christ. The most recent Forum was held on Saturday 15th February at Assembly Buildings in Belfast.
The guest speaker was Neil Harrison, PCI’s Mission Development Officer. He is married to Suzanne, a behaviour advisor for the EA, and they have two children – Henry and Maisie. Neil is a member of Waringstown PC and he enjoys caravanning and amateur dramatics.
Neil spoke twice during the Leaders’ Forum, sharing first on the importance of sharing our faith in relationship and he encouraged us to cultivate habits that might help us build a relationship with an unreached friend in our lives. In the second session Neil moved us on to think of how we can share our faith in the community and look at practical ways of doing this. You can listen to both of Neil’s talks below:
Neil’s first talk entitled Sharing faith in relationships, focused on Luke 5: 27-32 and the story of Levi the tax collector. Neil shared how Levi’s encounter with Jesus changed him and excited him to celebrate his new faith with others in his community and he encourages us to do the same by cultivating habits that might help us build relationships with unreached friends in our lives.
Neil’s second talk entitled Sharing faith in the community, focused on 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 and on the body of Christ and how each member has a part to play. He went on to encourage us to think practically about what our part might look like as we seek to share faith in the community we are in, and, to think of one thing we could action that would help others experience a part of the community of the church?

Keynote Speaker: Helen Warnock
'He restores my soul' (Psalm 23:3)
Around 1,600 women from across Ireland gathered in PCI's Assembly Buildings in Belfast on Thursday 9 May 2019 for Presbyterian Women Annual Conference. Our keynote speaker for 2019, Helen Warnock, principal of Belfast Bible College, delivered two talks exploring the theme for 2019-20, Restore.
During the afternoon session, she explored Psalm 23 in more detail, and asked us to consider whether we know God as the one who restores; who his restoration is for; and how he restores. In the evening, Helen focused on 1 Kings 19: 1-18, and how God's gentle restoration ushers in purpose to our lives, using the life of Elijah as an example of this.

Rick Hill on Disciples Living for Jesus
Rick Hill is PCI’s Discipleship Development Officer. He is married to Sarah, a Special Needs teacher, and together they have two young boys – Noah and Micah. Rick is an elder in Carnmoney Presbyterian, and enjoys running and reading, though not at the same time!
Rick spoke twice during the Leaders’ Forum, sharing first on how prioritising proximity, practicing patience, pursuing presence and pushing participation in our leadership will enable us to ‘push past the surface in what we are doing (as leaders)…and pursue depth.’ He encouraged us to move from distance to proximity, not to become preoccupied with programmes, projects or preaches, but to think of people and our relationships with them. Rick’s second talk, titled ‘Living for Jesus’, focused on Luke 24:30-33, the Emmaus Road story. He drew four images out of this passage: The Table, The Fire, The Road and The Chair. Each relates to four environments we need to prioritise as leaders: our invitation to others, the power of God, our witness to the world and our devotion to the King. PW Forum - September 2018
Claire Ebbinghaus on Biblical Leadership
Claire Ebbinghaus has been the Ministries Facilitator at Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church since 2015. She supports, both practically and pastorally, all the leaders of Kirkpatrick’s ministries and organisations, including her husband, Christoph, who has been the minister at Kirkpatrick for 15 years.
Claire shared that, ‘Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. To be a leader, we need to be clear about the goal of our leadership. We need to be clear about what goal we are trying to achieve and how we go about achieving it.’ That goal for Presbyterian Women is to encourage women to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to grow together as His followers.
In order to achieve this goal, Claire explained that we needed to recognise that ‘you cannot make disciples if you are not a disciple yourself’, and that good, biblical leadership is ‘about obedience rather than expertise’ because Jesus will be at work in us and through us when we are willing and when we are open to Him.

PW Annual Meeting 2018
Around 1,600 women from across Ireland gathered in PCI’s Assembly Buildings in Belfast on Thursday 10 May 2018 for the Annual Meeting and Evening Celebration of Presbyterian Women, a part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s women’s ministry. At the meetings, guest speaker Kate Patterson spoke on the newly launched PW theme for 2018/2019, Beautiful.
Outlining the content of her talks, Kate said, “The theme of both sessions is ‘Beautiful’. In a world where beauty is an industry and an obsession, we are called to gaze on the beauty of the Lord. In Psalm 27, David said that it was top of his prayer list. Why is it so important? Because when we gaze on the Lord, we find that His face is shining on us. He wants us near. We were made to know Him. What could matter more?
“In the evening celebration, we will consider our calling to ‘shine, for the glory of the Lord is upon us!’ The trouble is that we often don't feel very shiny and disqualify ourselves from our calling. But the great encouragement is that God places treasure in clay jars like us. What's the treasure? The light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ! As we live in the light of God's glory, gazing on Him, we reflect it and shine with His beauty in a dark world.”
