The General Assembly is the principal decision-making body of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. With a combined membership of upwards of 1,000 ministers and elders - men and women from PCI’s 500-plus congregations from across Ireland and others from home and overseas - will debate and make decisions jointly that can often shape the Church’s ministry and future. It is also a time when the Church gives voice collectively to the concerns of many people within and outside of our denomination.
This year, the General Assembly will meet in Belfast from Thursday 20 June to Saturday 22 June. It will also see the introduction of some significant changes to the traditional format of the annual meeting of the Church, principally the opening of the General Assembly itself and the election and installation of the new Moderator.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the public gallery for the Opening of the General Assembly on the Thursday morning and main public business sessions thereafter, until the close of the Assembly on Saturday. This includes the installation of the new Moderator, Rev Richard Murray of Drumreagh Presbyterian Church in County Antrim, which will take place on Friday afternoon. All public sessions will be livestreamed on this website.
