Each week different authors contribute their thoughts on a variety of subjects on the PCI blog. If you missed this month's, here’s another chance to catch up with some of April's top picks.

A change of plans

Having retired last year, Charlotte Stevenson was looking forward to a long awaited holiday - until the weather had other plans, leading to a change of plan for her. In this blog Charlotte thinks of people in the Bible who had a change made to their plans and how God was with them through every challenge.

The importance of invitation

In his blog, Neil Harrison, PCI's new Mission Development Officer, writes about the importance of invitation in enabling others to encounter Jesus. Introducing himself and the ministry he undertakes, he encourages us to step out in confidence and offer an invitation to our families and friends to meet Christ.

Easter reflections: What now?

In a special series of blogs to mark Easter, members of staff in Assembly Buildings, the Church’s administrative heart in Belfast, reflected on some of the key gospel passages that tell the Easter story. In the last of the series, Marianne Trueman reflects on hopelessness initially felt by the travellers on the Road to Emmaus, until they realised they had been with the risen Lord Jesus.

The full series of Easter reflections can be found here.

Who do we (know) we are?

In his blog, Graeme Thompson reflects on how Presbyterians are considering their spiritual identity as a covenant people of God and how this should shape their church life and personal discipleship. As he does, he revisits PCI’s video Bible study resource ‘How to be a Close to Home Congregation’ and the impact it can have on both congregations and families.

Plastic hope?

In the week when it was announced that scientists have discovered an enzyme that can eat some forms of plastic, a breakthrough that could help our battle with global plastic pollution, and following the news that the UK government is considering a ban on plastic straws and cotton buds, in his blog Rev. Dr. Paul Bailie talks about the blessing and curse of plastic, and how we are all called to be stewards of God’s creation.

You can read all of April’s blogs and search through an archive of over 150 more here. Subjects ranging from discipleship to food waste, the Reformation to PCI’s Vision for Society, Christmas to different aspects of congregational life – and other nuggets in between.
