Celebrating Easter at dawn

26.3.2018 | Congregational Life, Church Life, Easter

In a tradition spanning over 40 years, thousands of Presbyterians across the country will rise early this Easter Sunday morning, 1st April, to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many of these services will take place in specific outdoor locations, with worshippers gathering together at dawn.

These special services have become increasingly popular over the years, with many Presbyterians rising well before the sun to gather together for worship and fellowship, celebrating Christ's resurrection. For many, Easter Sunday holds special significance in their personal faith, as well as being one of the most important dates in the Christian calendar.

As in previous years, a number of these services are taking place in scenic locations - mountain lakes to seaside beaches, forest parks to river banks - with the earliest beginning at 6am. Weather permitting, services will include praise, prayer, Scripture reading and a short address. Some services will be followed by a tasty breakfast for those attending.
