Blog spot - revisit June's blogs

3.7.2018 | Congregational Life, Social Witness, Mission in Ireland, Children, Youth and Family, Farming and Rural Life, Blog

Each week different authors contribute their thoughts on a variety of subjects on the PCI blog. If you missed last month's, here’s another chance to catch up with June's top picks.

Working is an important part of my life

Kenneth Downes is our Volunteer Intern in the Council for Social Witness and has been with us just over seven years. He is an invaluable part of the office team and Social Witness is a better place when he is around. As part of Learning Disability Week, Kenneth agreed to share about his role within Social Witness and his experience working in Assembly Buildings.

Seeing the big picture

As many weekly children’s ministries come to a natural break over the summer months, Ruth Bromley encourages us all to reflect on how our congregational children’s ministry is supporting parents as they seek to raise their children in the Christian faith.

Preparation

As Robin Fairbairn writes, 'preparation is key'. Reflecting on the need to begin preparations for Christmas by cleaning out the turkey house, he considers how Jesus has already prepared a place for us, while 'we just simply need to trust the One who has done all the work'.

What's the point?

Reflecting on the questions posed by King Solomon in Ecclesiastes regarding the purpose of life, and the hard labour undertaken daily by farmers, Dr Kenneth Patterson notes the importance of looking to Christ, in whom 'we can experience abundant life now, and then eternal life in the world to come'.
