To contribute to the Christian ministry and mission of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland through the delivery of the duties outlined.

To be an active member of the General Assembly’s staff team, contributing to the effective administration of its functions and assisting in the development of strategies and plans for the delivery of its agreed objective in a manner in keeping with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Under the leadership of the Council for Social Witness and the direction of its Secretary, to assist with the implementation of decisions of the General Assembly relevant to the Council and to carry forward its delegated responsibilities.

To take lead responsibility for the delivery of high standards of person-centred social care service across designated Council for Social Witness projects throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Essential Criteria:

  • A Social Work qualification OR a first level Registered Nurse OR an allied health professional (e.g. Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist) AND 4 years’ experience in a health and social care setting working with regulated services
  • OR one of the following - QCF/ Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care (Adult Residential Management or Adult Management) as listed in the Personnel specification, AND 5 years’ experience in a health and social care setting working with regulated services
  • OR, for existing experienced managers who do not hold an appropriate qualification, a minimum of ten years’ experience in a senior manager (registered manager or regional management) role in services regulated under the provisions of the Health and Personal Social Services (Quality, Improvement and Regulation) (NI) Order 2003
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current legal responsibilities and standards for the Health and Social Care services, including the need for management and delivery of person-centred services
  • Willing to work within and uphold the Christian ethos of PCI in management and delivery of services
  • All applicants must be willing to work within the Christian ethos of PCI.

CSW Managers Scale 1 (£39,662–£45,132 per annum)

As Training Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of Council for Social Witness’s (CSW) training services, working closely with CSW’s Executive Team, managers and staff. 

This will include developing and delivering tailor-made training, including both long-term and short term face-to-face, online and blended learning. 

You will be expected to develop strong relationships with CSW staff in all parts of the organisation and external partners in training provider organisations to commission, develop and deliver sector standard and tailor-made learning solutions for our staff across CSW.

Achievement of CSW’s Mission relies on valuing and developing our management and staff team; this will include introducing and embedding person-centred ways of working in all areas of provision.

Essential Criteria:

Either criteria 1, 2, 5 and 6 or criteria 3, 4, 5 and 6

1. One of the professional qualifications below:

(a) a professional social work qualification and registered on the appropriate part of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) register, without condition;

or

(b) a first level registered nurse on the appropriate part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register without condition;

and

2. a minimum of four years’ work experience in any health or social care setting with older people, people with disabilities, people with mental health needs, people with substance use related needs, or people who have committed offences. At least two years of this experience must be in a relevant operational management capacity in a health and social care setting.

  • Examples of strategic and entrepreneurial skills to support the development of an organisation and the development of new lines of work
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi task and work to deadlines
  • Proven strengths in facilitating collaboration and collaborative ways of working both as part of an internal team and with external stakeholders/partners
  • Instructional design or e-learning development skills
  • Applied knowledge of adult learning theories and facilitation methods
  • High standard of spoken English and an ability to write clearly and concisely for different audiences including external bodies and staff Significant experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of training. 
  • Experience in the design, development and management of a range of in-person and online learning experiences, such as facilitated courses, self-paced modules, webinars etc. 
  • Experience of developing a portfolio of work, including developing projects and proposals and securing funding for these in the field of training or individual capacity building
  • Experience in managing projects and associated budgets in multi-stakeholder work processes
  • Experience of line managing social care staff and team building.
  • The postholder must be prepared to work within, and conduct themselves in accordance with, the Christian ethos of PCI
