5 Things to Pray For

6.3.2018 | Congregational Life, Prayer,

A resource to assist congregations in praying together.

Prayer is such a privilege and necessity in our lives as followers of Jesus and the life of our local church. Yet many of us find it difficult to maintain a prayer life that has vitality and momentum - and there are many reasons for this. One of them might be that we approach prayer and gather to pray without simple focus on God, the promises of His word and their connection to everyday life and reality.

Let’s Pray: A short video resource to stimulate prayer in your congregation

In the video clip below Rachel Jones, author of the ‘5 Things to Pray’ series of books, encourages us to pray with faith, focus and fervency, expecting that God will answer. The guest speaker at the Prebyterian Women Forum in February 2018, Rachel's book ‘5 Things to Pray for your Church’ has been used in many congregations across the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and has brought a breath of fresh air in prayer.

You can download this clip of Rachel talking about the '5 things to pray...' series and the importance of prayer from the PCI vimeo page to use in your congregation. Consider how you might use the video in a church service, prayer meeting or other setting to encourage the prayer life of your church and its members.

Let’s Pray:  Special offer for PCI congregations on the ‘5 Things to Pray’ series

Following up on a previous PCI special offer on the ‘5 Things to Pray for your Church’ title, of which many congregations took advantage, the Good Book Company are now offering a 50% discount across the series. This means that the three titles below can be mixed and matched as desired. This will apply to orders of 50 or more books of any combination. For orders of under 50 books a discount of 40% applies, but these orders must be placed directly with Robin Fairbairn (contact details below).

Each title offers a set of simple scripture prompts for use in a wide range of ways to encourage individual and group prayer. They also provide a great way of enlarging the scope of intercessory prayer in church services and provide a template which members could be encouraged to use when leading in prayer.

How to place your order

Orders can be placed with the Good Book Company here via their website using discount code PCIstrorm. You can also place an order directly with their local Ministry Development Officer, Robin Fairbairn, via his email robin.fairbairn@thegoodbook.co.uk, or by telephone at 07841 469165.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.  This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
