General Assembly 2019: Overview

21.5.2019 | General Assembly, GA 2019,

The 2019 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland took place in Assembly Buildings, Belfast from Monday evening, 3 June and close on Friday, 7 June.

Approximately 1,000 ministers and elders from its 500-plus congregations, corresponding members and delegates from home and overseas met in General Assembly for worship, prayer, celebration and discussion. The General Assembly is the denomination’s governing and decision-making body and the highest court of the Church - decisions taken during the week will set the direction for the life and ministry of PCI over the coming year and beyond.

The opening night saw the formal nomination, election and installation of the new Moderator for 2019/2020, Rev Dr William Henry of Maze Presbyterian Church in County Antrim, one of the youngest ministers in living memory to be elected to the office.

The vast majority of the sessions were open to the public and are streamed live. Throughout the General Assembly there was a live Twitter feed @pciassembly. You can still view the Tweets using the hashtag #PCIGA19.
