General Assembly 2018: Overview

The 2018 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland took place in Assembly Buildings in Belfast from Monday evening, 4 June and closed on Friday, 8 June.

Attended by approximately 1,000 ministers and elders from the Church’s 500-plus congregations across Ireland, members of Assembly received and discussed reports from the Church’s 124 councils, committees, panels and task groups across 26 sessions involving 100 resolutions that set the direction for the life and ministry of the Church over the coming year and beyond.

Most of the public sessions were open to the public and were streamed live, starting with the Opening Night on Monday 4, June. Throughout the General Assembly there was a live Twitter feed @pciassembly. You can review the Tweets using the hashtag #PCIGA18.

General Assembly video

2018 Summary Report

The General Assembly Summary Report contains details of some of the decisions that that were taken at the 2018 General Assembly. While not a formal annual report as such, it contains over 50 articles and features providing a flavour of the diverse work that the Church has been engaged in since the previous General Assembly in 2017.

Copies of the Summary Report can be downloaded here. Limited numbers in a hard copy format are also available from Assembly Buildings in Belfast.

2019 General Assembly

The 2019 General Assembly #PCIGA19 will take place from the evening of Monday, 3 June with the formal election and installation of the new Moderator. Business will commence on Tuesday morning and will close on Friday 7 June.
