Easter Sunday starts early

11.4.2017 | Congregational Life, Church Life, Easter

Once again, this Easter Sunday, 16th April, thousands of Presbyterians will gather in a variety of places across the country to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Although many of these services will take place at the traditional time and place – some, however, do not.

The dawn service on Easter Sunday has become an increasingly popular way of marking Christ’s resurrection, with Easter day having a great significance in the Christian calendar, as well as in individual’s personal faith. So, rising early, many Presbyterians will make their way to church or a specific location, for a special time of worship and fellowship together.

As before many scenic locations have been chosen as places to meet together, with the earliest being at 6am. Weather permitting, services will include praise, prayer, Scripture reading and a short address. In addition, after some services a tasty breakfast is offered to those who come along.
