The PCI internal scheme is a one-year programme providing the opportunity to discover and develop your leadership potential while serving in a PCI congregation.
A 12-month programme that is focused on developing young leaders while placing them within a local congregational setting to contribute to the ministry there. This opportunity includes quality training for the individual through a specific ministry-related course and a monthly training day alongside other interns. Congregations are welcome to express their interest in facilitating a placement for one of the participants on the programme. There are up to six spaces available for participants and we will seek to match successful applicants with an appropriate
We want to invest in, equip and release young leaders into our Church and culture. We are providing these opportunities first and foremost to develop fresh and future leaders within our denomination, and secondly to resource the work of congregations at a local level.
This opportunity is for individuals who display a passion for God, a heart for the church, a willingness to learn and have gifts to contribute. Placement congregations should have a focus on developing and walking alongside a younger leader as they explore their gifting. Applicants should be committed to Christ, aim to reflect him through their life and demonstrate competency in some areas of ministry.
The programme runs from September 2020 to the following August 2021 on a part-time basis of up to 25 hours per week, equating to approximately eight sessions of service each week. A weekly schedule will be agreed between applicants and congregations before ministry placements commence.
Successful applicants will be matched with a local congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. They will undertake their placement within that setting and be line-managed locally within this congregation, with some additional support offered from the Council of Congregational Life and Witness. This is an unpaid scheme, however, participants will be given access to significant training, resources and valuable experience, as well as the reimbursement of all out-of-pocket expenses related to their ministry.
