Age old problem, or new possibility?

AgeofOpportunity_Logo_Col.jpgOne of the realities of the setting for the life and witness in any congregation in Ireland is that we are living in an increasing aging society. We shouldn’t be at all surprised then if the average age of our membership is also creeping upwards. But do we see only the  challenge that presents or also the opportunities?

Those in later life have so much to bring to the life of the church, but often we fail to appreciate and harness the contribution they might make because we view getting older as society does - as a problem, rather than a stage of life full of possibilities.

The 'Age of Opportunity' morning offers new eyes to see the potential for age specific ministry and evangelism among those in later life.

Possibilities and stories of how churches have moved beyond the unimaginative approach of defaulting to just looking after the older people will be shared and explored. Ways of  engaging in a range of ministries of discipleship, leadership development and evangelism prayerfully and carefully crafted to connect with those in later life will be offered to fire our imaginations.

You will come away with fresh vision, some simple ideas that you could begin to develop in your congregation and a free copy of All the days of my life, PCI’s very own resource for evangelism among those in later life.

The event is delivered in conjunction with the Faith in Later Life organisation to whom we are grateful for bringing their experience in exploring this vital ministry of the church.
