The General Assembly is the principal decision-making body of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and will formally elect Rev Dr Sam Mawhinney of Adelaide Road Presbyterian Church in Dublin as Moderator of the General Assembly for 2023/2024 on its opening night - the first time since the year 2000 that the General Assembly will be chaired by a Moderator who is from a congregation in the Republic of Ireland.
Attended by upwards of 1,000 ministers, elders, and others who have right to attend - or sit and deliberate - from PCI’s 500-plus congregations across Ireland, the reports that are debated, and the resolutions that are passed, shape the Church’s direction in different areas, decisions taken jointly by ministers and elders, men and women, from congregations up and down the land.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the public gallery for the Opening Night at 7pm on Wednesday, 21 June and main public business sessions, which start at 10.00am on Thursday and Friday and at 10.30am on Saturday morning. This year’s ‘Listening to the Global Church’, will take place at 2.45pm on Friday, 23 June.
While you can find the reports that will be discussed and full details of all business and other information on the General Assembly Overview page here, a brief summary, including worship, can be found below.
