Pastoral care for the older generations

Did you know that the rate of growth in Northern Ireland's over 65 population is growing at a rate that is three times faster than anyother? In his infoblog, Tom Finnegan writes about pastoral care for the older generation, the unique contribution that older people make to congregational life and how supporting them is an important pastoral task for the Church. He also gives some basic advice and points to a useful resource that can help.

More extensive guidelines and optional discussion questions for elders and pastoral care teams are provided in PCI’s booklet, Guidelines for pastoral care for older generations, which you can order here.

As PCI’s Training Development Officer, Tom’s role is to facilitate courses and develop or signpost resources for the equipping of church members.
