Background:

Muriel grew up on a farm outside Banbridge, Co Down. Her home congregation is Scarva Street, where she was involved in youth work, Girls' Brigade, Choir, Sunday School, Christian Endeavour and other activities. Muriel was also involved in Summer Outreach teams in the South of Ireland and Child Evangelism Fellowship. After leaving school Muriel was a bank official in the Ulster Bank, serving for 14 years in different branches. Muriel now worships in Fisherwick Church, where she is an elder.


Present Ministry:

Working with the Chaplain's Department of Pastoral Care in Belfast City Hospital Trust. Muriel's responsibilities include:

  • Ministering to people as patients in a hospital environment and also their relatives and friends.
  • Relating to hospital staff.

Interests:

Swimming, walking, reading, Irish folk music and spending time with family and friends.


Prayer Requests:

  • For all patients and relatives in their particular and individual need - that Christ's love, comfort and peace would be real for them. Please pray for wisdom, sensitivity and compassion in all Muriel's encounters with patients; also their families and friends.
  • For all hospital staff as they constantly and consistently care for others - especially in times of change, uncertainty and pressure. Please pray that Muriel will relate to hospital staff in a meaningful way.
  • For all services of worship. Pray these will be a source of encouragement, help and hope.
  • For the Chaplaincy Department - please intercede for all interdenominational team members that they will work well together and alongside other disciplines for the benefit of the entire hospital community.
  • Please pray for good health, strength and safety as Muriel travels on deputation.
