"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age".

In less than fifty words Jesus clearly expressed His Great Commission, His very own blue-print for mission. Jesus had come into the world and now His followers were to go out into the world. This was not to be the remit of a 'theological elite'. No, the early chapters of Acts make it clear that unschooled ordinary men were to be in His witnessing band. Ordinary Christians, rather than angels or archangels, were to publicise His plan of salvation.

And so to the 'Go Deep' Roadshows. These events brought together a number of true stories, readings, drama items, poems and songs into a programme, designed to 'wake and shake' women to open their ears and hear Christ's call to witness, and open their mouths to speak of Him and for Him. The programme was prayerfully put together under ten heading:-

  1. Admit you're not up to the job
  2. Believe in the power of God
  3. Care about the eternal destiny of others
  4. Discover what God can do when we listen
  5. Explain the way of salvation
  6. realise there is no witnessing Formula
  7. Go and Sow
  8. Helpful Hints
  9. Inspired replies
  10. Just do it!

It was then presented by members of the PW Central Committee. Two drama teams, one from Ebrington and the other from Newmills were responsible for a total of six thought-provoking sketches. Different musicians willingly gave of their time and talents to lead the worship. Over 2350 women were concerned enough about witnessing to book a place at one of the Roadshows which took place in February and March 2010.

'Inspiring', 'powerful' and 'moving' were words which were often overheard as women left the Roadshows. In each venue there was a sense of the presence of God and a palpable awareness of the solemn nature of the issues being addressed. Few left without being challenged about their 'doorstep mission fields' but also encouraged by the reminder that no Christian goes out into her mission field alone. Hearts were warmed by the 'goodness' of the good news.

Stir us to Action small poster image

2010 Annual Meeting

At this year's annual PW rally, Helen Kennedy challenged a packed Assembly Hall of ladies to "pitch their tents" as they respond to God’s call for action.

On Thursday 6 May, Church House Assembly Hall was filled twice over as members of PW groups from across Ireland came together for the annual PW rally. The first of the meetings took place in the afternoon and was then repeated in the evening, allowing some 2000 women to attend what is the organisation’s biggest event of the year. The theme for the coming year was announced as 'Stir us to Action' and the service followed this theme throughout.
