2011 - 2012Probationary Year -
Kells and Eskylane Presbyterian Church

Background:

I grew up in a Christian home and came to faith in Jesus Christ as a young girl. On leaving school, I trained as a nurse, and married my husband, Alan, in 1988. David was born in 1990 and Joanna in 1992. Several years later, having returned to work part-time, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at Coleraine University. It was during this time that we first visited Africa – (July and August 2000). We travelled to Malawi where I worked at Ekwendeni Hospital. On completion of my degree we returned to Africa, this time to Niger, where we served with SIM from 2002-2004.

On returning home I completed the Women’s Study Fellowship course at Belfast Bible College and was also given many opportunities to serve in my home congregation of Buckna. I began to realise that, rather than leading me to returning to Africa, God was calling me to serve His church here at home. Through His guidance, and much prayer, as well as support from friends, I applied for deaconess training.
