When the Going Gets Tough...

Women's Conference with Jill Briscoe
Saturday, 7th March 2009

Jill Briscoe Women's Conference As women made their way to the conference from near and far, umbrellas became a useful item. However, once inside the warm atmosphere of Orangefield Presbyterian Church the cold weather was soon forgotten.
Jill Briscoe Women's ConferenceRube Brunton and band led the praise and helped us to focus our thoughts on God and be aware of His presence with us.
Jill Briscoe Women's Conference Valerie Stewart (PW President) welcomed everyone and interviewed Jill Briscoe.
Jill was born in England and found Christ when she was 18 years old. Upon graduating from Cambridge University, she began working as a teacher by day and had a vigorous street ministry to the young people of Liverpool by night. In 1958, she married Stuart, and they moved to Brookfield, Wisconsin in 1970 when Stuart was invited to be senior Pastor of Elmbrook Church. They ministered there for 30 years and since 2000 they have had the joy of equipping and encouraging believers across the globe in their roles as ministers-at-large for Elmbrook. Jill has authored more than 40 books including devotionals, study guides, poetry and children’s books.
Jill Briscoe Women's ConferenceJill’s talk was divided into three sessions as she taught us from God’s Word and related something of her own life’s journey. She shared with us stories of difficulties she had faced and how to cope when life’s sudden squalls come our way.
We were reminded that if we were not currently enduring difficult times then we should expect to face them as no one escapes life’s sorrows. She emphasised the importance of spending time with Jesus before entering each new day and allowing Him to use us. She also emphasised the importance of trusting God when our prayers have not been answered in the way we would like. At difficult times it is important not to rely on our feelings but on the eternal promises of God.
Jill Briscoe Women's Conference The hushed atmosphere in the hall showed the impact Jill’s words were having, and God’s presence brought both challenge and comfort. A prayer ministry team was made available throughout the day for women to use to seek God in a quiet place.
Jill Briscoe Women's ConferenceWe pray that the Holy Spirit will work in a mighty way through every woman who attended and through all who will hear it on DVD. It is our prayer that the women who came will be encouraged and that that the broken-hearted will be lifted up.

** A DVD of the conference may be ordered from the PW Office price £5.00 if collected or £6.00 by post. Click here to download a request form.
