Meet the team

Pauline Kennedy - Women's Ministry & PW Development Officer

My face may be familiar to some of you from one of those missionary photos pinned on your walls some years ago. My husband Norman and I lived and served as PCI missionaries in Kenya between 1989 and 2007.
We have three sons who are all still studying at school and university. As a family we belong to Wellington Presbyterian Church, Ballymena where we love to worship and serve in different areas of congregational life.
I have known God’s call on my life since I became a Christian as a nineteen year old Art College student. Since then I have had a deep desire to serve Him wherever He leads. For many years I have been involved in women’s ministry at home and overseas and I have a passionate heartfelt vision from God for all women across our land and beyond, to know that they are valued, and that their identity in Christ has real purpose and has His mission at its core.

As Women’s Ministry and PW Development Officer it is my responsibility to support the ministry of Presbyterian Women, as well as assisting in the development of strategy and coordination of women’s ministry in general.

Suzanne Simpson - PW Support Officer

I am thrilled to have taken on the role of PW Support Officer. Within this post, I will be the editor of the Wider World magazine, and supporting the work that is done within Presbyterian Women.
I studied English Literature at Queen’s University, Belfast, before completing PCGE training in order to become a teacher of English and Media Studies at secondary level. I spent the majority of my teaching career in Ashfield Girls’ High School, Belfast.
I’m married to Stephen and we have two gorgeous children (I’m biased of course): Cora, who is 6, and Tom, who is 2. We are members of Orangefield Presbyterian Church, Belfast, and are actively involved within the congregational life of the church. I am part of the prayer ministry team within Orangefield and frequently create interactive prayer spaces for congregational and community use.
I am thrilled that God has led me to this role within PW and I pray that He will enable me to build up, engage with, and support the incredible work being done by Presbyterian Women.

Rose McCullagh - Senior Administrative Assistant

I have been happily married to Ian since 1985 and live in the heart of Co. Down close to the village of Dromara. I am a member of First Dromara Presbyterian Church.

I love the outdoors and main hobbies revolve around walking and watersports.
In a nutshell: wife, thoughtful, caring, faithful, fun-loving, sensitive, devoted, mischievous, compassionate, patient, relational, thorough.

As Senior Administrative Assistant I am responsible for finance related duties, deputation arrangements and secretarial and administrative duties.

Naomi Campbell - Administrative Assistant

I live in Finaghy and am a member of Lowe Memorial congregation where I am a Sunday School teacher. I serve on the Belfast committee of the Association of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. This committee is responsible for fund raising and arranging activities for children and adults whose lives have been affected by Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.  During the summer months I enjoy spending time with the family at our caravan in Annalong.

I have worked in the PW Office since 1992. In my role as administrative assistant I deal with general office enquiries both on the telephone and from those who visit the office. I am also responsible for maintaining the PW Database and assisting with general office duties.

Valerie Stewart - Women's Strategy and Coordination Committee Convener

Valerie brings a wealth of experience to the role of Convener: she has served as group leader in various congregations, a member of PW LINK in the Presbyteries of Foyle, Derry & Donegal and is currently Chairperson of Monaghan LINK. Valerie served on PW Central Committee for ten years and was the 2008/2009 President. She is wholeheartedly committed to the work of women’s ministry, and PW in particular, and longs to see people come to faith and become disciples of Christ. Her interests include crafts, photography, Sudoku puzzles and caravanning. Valerie is married to Stanley, currently a part-time minister in four small congregations on the Fermanagh-Monaghan border, and they have a son and a daughter who are both married.

Elma Leeburn - President

Elma is married to Ian, has two sons and a daughter and six grandchildren under the age of five. She retired in 2013 having worked with her husband and sons in the family business. She is an elder in Hillsborough Congregation and very much enjoys pastoral visiting. She has been Leader, Secretary and Treasurer of her PW Group and recently completed her term as Secretary of the Dromore PW LINK. Elma would love to see more women, particularly young women, coming along to PW. In her spare time she enjoys being on the north coast.

Karen Craig - Home Vice-President

Karen is married to Rob, minister in Kilfennan Presbyterian Church in Londonderry, and they have two daughters. Serving alongside her husband in ministry she has been able to get involved with PW groups over the last 32 years. She has found it both encouraging and rewarding to see women grow in their Christian faith through the fellowship and friendship of PW. With over 40 years of service as an officer in Girls’ Brigade, Karen has recognised the importance of helping young girls find and develop their Christian faith. She has recently taken early retirement from primary school teaching and, in addition to her classroom teaching, she was the designated teacher for child protection for a number of years.
She is a passionate Ulster Rugby supporter and season ticket holder and likes to travel when opportunities arise.

Lynda Stothers - Overseas Vice-President

Lynda is married to Jim and they have three adult sons. She has been involved with PW for 34 years and has been blessed with the love and support of the women of PW in four congregations and Presbyteries. Having served at various levels, Lynda has learned more and more about the vital contributions PW makes to the wider Church and she has enjoyed doing so. Her career experiences as a physiotherapist, a playgroup assistant and as a counsellor have opened her eyes to the deeper needs of women. Her vision is that women of all ages and stages will support and encourage each other as they face the joys and sorrows, along with the ordinary everyday events and duties of this life. To unwind Lynda enjoys crafting, jigsaw puzzles and sudoku.
