'Prime Minister Needs To Act Decisively Over PMS' Says Moderator

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Stafford Carson issued the following statement following today's court judgement concerning the Presbyterian Mutual Society.

Savers with less than £20,000 in the PMS will be disappointed by today's judgement that they are not entitled to receive any interim payment from the administrator under current legislation.

The judge's comment that 'any redress must be found elsewhere' highlights the need for HM Government to find urgently a resolution of the PMS situation.

We believe that the prime minister needs to act decisively so that his original stated objective that no UK saver would loose out as a result of the larger financial crisis is achieved.

We are encouraged by the support of all the parties in the NI Executive to have this resolved and continue to press the case for all savers to have returned to them 100p in the pound of their monies.

Rt Rev Dr Stafford Carson
Presbyterian Moderator
