Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Harry Uprichard will visit the USA this Easter to further strengthen connections between the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and the Presbyterian Church in the USA - PCUSA. Dr Uprichard will travel with his wife Maisie, arriving on 3 April and returning home on 23 April.
The Moderator's trip will begin in New York where he will visit Princeton Theological Seminary and on 9th April attend morning worship at Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church and evening worship at Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
From New York, Dr Uprichard will travel to Washington DC where he will meet with senior officials of PCUSA including Rev Dr G Wilson Gunn Jr, General Presbyter of National Capital Presbytery and the Rev Dr James G Macdonnell, Chair of the Presbyterian Committee for Northern Ireland. The committee help to guide the opinions of PCUSA regarding their involvement in Irish affairs. Dr Macdonnell has been a regular visitor to Northern Ireland and Dr Uprichard will update him on the current situation here.
Over Easter the Moderator will attend a Maundy Thursday worship service on 13 April at the National Presbyterian Church and on Easter Sunday he will bring the greetings of the General Assembly in Ireland to Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church in Washington, one of National Capital Presbytery's most vibrant and vital inner-city churches.
Dr Uprichard's trip will conclude in Philadelphia where he will visit Westminster Theological Seminary and the Presbyterian Historical Society of the USA.
