'A Step further...' is the theme for a special global mission celebration evening taking place in Carnmoney Presbyterian Church next Tuesday 25 October beginning at 7.30pm.
The event is being organised by the Board of Mission Overseas of the Presbyterian Church and will feature its work in France, Spain and Kenya.
Among those taking part will be Gordon Campbell, until recently Professor of New Testament Theology at FLTR, a reformed Theological College in Aix-en-Province in Southern France which trains students for ministry both in France and in French-speaking areas around the world.
Mphatso Nguluwe, a sister from Ekwendeni Nursing School in Northern Malawi currently undertaking further study in Belfast, will be interviewed.
Derek and Jane French will speak of their work in Valencia with the Spanish Evangelical Church, involved with youth and children and in reaching out to people outside the church community. Planning to return to Spain next year, they hope to take a 'step further' and be involved in evangelism amongst university and college students.
Members of the Ards Presbytery Team who visited Kenya earlier this year will be telling their story along with Derek and Linda Roulston. The Roulstons have been working alongside colleagues from the Presbyterian Church of East Africa developing a ministry to the Waliangulu people, former hunters turned agriculturalists, living along the banks of the Galana River in southeast Kenya.
Overseas Secretary, Rev Uel Marrs and the Moderator, Dr Harry Uprichard will also be taking part in what promises to be an interesting, informative and challenging evening of focus on mission around the world.
Praise will be led by the Minister of Carnmoney, Rev John Dickinson assisted by musicians from the congregation.
"This is an important event for all those that are interested in and support our Church's work in mission overseas," says Nigel Eves, Mission Education Officer for the Board of Mission Overseas. "We hope that many will join us next Tuesday; not only to enjoy the evening but to be challenged by what our speakers have to say."
