10 Year Anniversary Of Movilla Presbyterian

Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Harry Uprichard will join with Movilla Presbyterian Church this Sunday 4th September to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Dr Uprichard will speak at the 11am church service on Sunday morning and Rev. David Porter who was the first minister of Movilla will address the congregation at the 7pm evening service.

Services in Movilla Presbyterian began in September 1995 when the congregation consisted of 60 families and met in a mobile hall. Ten years on and the congregation has grown to 230 families. The current church building was erected in 1999 and the original portable one is now used as the church hall. This Sunday morning's service will also act as a gift day to raise money for a new church hall to be built. The plans for this hall will be presented to the Ards Presbytery in October and if they are approved the new hall could be ready as early as next September.

The 10 year anniversary celebrations will also include a meal on Monday evening for the congregation, when they will enjoy singing by both the choir and praise group as they celebrate together.

Rev. John Carlisle the current minister of Movilla said, "This is a great celebration of the growth of the church over the past ten years. The majority of our members live within a short distance of the building and therefore we continue to endeavour to be a local church for the local community, working together with other churches in the area."
