Moderator Expresses Support For Londoners

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Harry Uprichard has written to the Moderator of the United Reformed Church to express his sadness and support following Thursday's terrorist attacks in London.

Writing to Dr David Peel, Dr Uprichard assured him of the prayers of Presbyterians throughout Ireland. "Naturally our first thoughts are for the injured and bereaved and their friends and families," said Dr Uprichard.

"Also we think of all those caught up in the attacks and particularly the members of the emergency and medical services who did such an excellent job. We also pray for all those who live and work in London as they cope with the disruption and fear that yesterday's attacks have brought. From our own experiences here we know what a vital role churches play at times like this and we pray for your ministers and congregations bringing comfort and care in this situation."

The offices of the United Reform Church are in Tavistock Place close to where the bus bomb exploded in Tavistock Square. Only last weekend Dr Uprichard attended Dr Peel's installation as URC Moderator at it's assembly held in Warwick.
