Moderator Attends English And Welsh Assemblys

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Harry Uprichard travels to the English city of Warwick this weekend to represent the Presbyterian Church in Ireland at the General Assembly of the United Reformed Church from 2 July until 5 July.

Dr Uprichard will be accompanied by Clerk of the General Assembly Dr Donald Watts and will attend the installation of Yorkshireman Rev David Peel as the next Moderator of the URC.

Among the main reports to be discussed during the Assembly is 'Catch the Vision.' This is a far reaching report which seeks to reorganise the URC both at congregational and central level towards new ways of working which will lead to deeper and more effective engagement in mission to the local community.

The United Reformed Church was formed over thirty years ago when the Congregational and Presbyterian Church in England joined together in the one denomination.

Dr Uprichard will be joined by Mrs Uprichard to travel on to the University of Wales in Lampter to attend the General Assembly of the Welsh Presbyterian Church which takes as its theme this year 'Moving on in Faith.'

Both Churches were represented by their respective Moderators at the recent Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland which was held in Belfast last month.
