Presbyterian Churches in the Larne, Carrickfergus and Ballyclare area will tomorrow, Thursday 8 April at 9.30am, (photographs at 9.20am) hand over a cheque for £4000, including £1000 from staff at Kilroot Power Station, to Roddensvale Special Needs School at a special Assembly to be held in the school on the Roddens, Larne.
The money was raised by the churches when they got together to promote the European Year of People with Disability at a special concert in Belfast's Ulster Hall last November at which a group from Roddensvale were one of the guest choirs.
The cheque will be handed over by Rev Gabrielle Farquhar, members of the various churches who helped organise the concert and representatives from Kilroot Power Station. "We are delighted that because people were so generous in their support for the concert we can now hand over this cheque to Roddensvale School to help them in the very special work they do here and hope that in a small way the Churches have helped highlight the valuable contribution that people with disability make to our community," said Mrs Farquhar.
Funds raised in the concert are also going to help Small Stones - an agricultural support programme for farmers in the Congo run by the local church.
