Celebrating partnership in the community is the aim of a special carol service 'Stars of Hope' being held today Thursday 4 December at 11.30am in Fortwilliam Park Presbyterian Church Hall situated at the junction of Antrim Road and Fortwilliam Park.
The event will be the public launch of the Partnership in Community Transformation while seasonal music will be provided by St Patrick's College, Currie Primary, Holy Family Primary and Castle High Schools.
The Partnership in Community Transformation is an initiative of Fortwilliam Presbyterian Church joined by Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish which brings together a number of North Belfast Community groups including Kansas Women's Group, the North Belfast Sports Forum, Newington Families Group, Homestart North Belfast, STP Rookie Club, Indian Community Centre and Fortwilliam Interchurch Group.
"As a diverse partnership of churches, schools, community groups and statutory organisations, The Partnership in Community Transformation's (PCT) mission is to contribute to the creation of holistic and committed relationships across the North Belfast community and sustain principles of equality and interdependence" explains Rev Lesley Carroll, minister of Fortwilliam Park.
The core values of the Partnership in Community Transformation include; building long-term, committed relationships, empowering diverse groups for creative relationships, sustaining relationships to contribute to stability and a secure environment, encouraging good citizenship and respect for diversity, promoting service to one another and the wider community and to develop programmes and partnerships that inspire achievement of these core values and mission.
"The group considers these core values as essential," adds Lesley Carroll, "if we are to achieve our vision and become the stepping stones to interdependent communities in our part of North Belfast building a future which is brighter and better than the past."
