Presbyterians Urged To Vote

The Presbyterian Church is calling on its members 'to exercise their right to vote' believing that 'elections provide an opportunity to express an opinion.'

A statement from the Presbyterian Church and Government which represents the General Assembly in matters of public interest says that 'the prolonged political stalemate has led to widespread apathy and a worrying disengagement from political life. Elections,' the committee says, 'would provide a fresh mandate for elected representatives and inject new life into the political process.'

In a resolution agreed at its autumn meeting, the Church's General Board, the largest body representative of Presbyterian opinion other than the General Assembly stated that 'elections provide an opportunity to express an opinion and all voters are urged to exercise their right to vote.'
