A Newly Refurbished Seaview Opens Its Doors

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Ivan McKay travels to Seaview Presbyterian Church this Sunday, 23 November at 11.00am to take part in a special service of thanksgiving to mark the rededication of the church and halls following a £220,000 refurbishment programme.

The church on Belfast's Shore Road celebrated its sixtieth anniversary in 1996 and the halls where the congregation first met and which are still in everyday use were in need of serious renovation to meet present day regulations and new requirements for disabled access. Along with extensive rewiring the 'new' building now features an extended entrance area and vestibule.

Recently installed minister Rev Eddie Hyndman is excited about the future. "After sixty years our buildings were just worn out through constant use. The area too has endured difficult times but the way everyone has pulled together to support this building programme has been terrific. Along with the refurbished buildings there's a revitalised energy and enthusiasm in the congregation which I hope we can communicate to the community around as we continue our work and witness to the good news of Jesus."

Sunday's service will very much be on the theme of thanksgiving for the ministry of previous years and looking forward to what is ahead. As well as the Moderator, former members of the congregation and its various organisations have been invited to share in the celebrations.
