Presbyterians Promote European Year Of People With Disability

Presbyterian Churches in the Larne, Carrickfergus and Ballyclare area are getting together to promote the European Year of People with Disability at a special concert planned for Belfast's Ulster Hall on Saturday 22 November at 7.00pm.

The Charity Praise Concert which brings together people from north and south of the border features a choir from the Roddensvale Special Needs School in Larne and the African Chorale from Dublin.

Also taking part will be guest soloist Peter Corry, 3rd Carrickfergus Silver Band and a specially formed mixed choir made up of singers from the Presbyterian congregations in East Antrim. Along with guest pianist Maurice Farquhar and organist Rev Noel Williamson will be a group from the Drake Project which encourages people with disability to make music using computers.

'We hope the concert will highlight the musical talents of people with disability,' says concert organiser, Rev Gabrielle Ellis, 'as well as an opportunity to praise God and celebrate and give thanks for the life given to each one of us.'

The charities to be supported through the concert are Roddensvale Special Needs School and Small Stones - a church programme in the Congo.

Tickets(£12 for adults, £10 for children and senior citizens) are available from Wesley Owen Bookshop/Familybooks in The Spires, Belfast and the Faith Mission Bookshop in Queen's Street, Belfast
