Moderator Joins Celebrations In The Largy

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Russell Birney travels to the north west this Friday evening, 24 January at 7.30pm to take part in a celebration and dedication at Largy Presbyterian Church just outside Limavady.

'It's not often that a Moderator comes to the Largy,' says the congregation's minister Dr Clive Glass, 'but several projects that we have be working on have come to or are nearing completion and the Moderator's visit just adds to that feeling that we are achieving things and going forward in our witness to the community.'

In particular the Moderator will be asked to dedicate a new heating system in the church which has also been redecorated, the entire project costing the 130 family strong congregation around £25,000.

In another development the church was able to acquire adjoining land to develop as a car park and also to provide the site for a new community hall that will be of benefit to both the church and community.

'Apart from the church building used for Sunday worship we have had only extremely limited accommodation for other activities and access to this new hall will enable us to play a fuller part in the life of our local community,' added Dr Glass.
