New Presbyterian Advisor Appointed To Utv Religious Panel

UTV plc has appointed Rev Liz Hughes, minister of Whitehouse Presbyterian Church to its Religious Advisory Panel in succession to Dr John Dunlop.

Along with new Methodist representative Rev Robin Roddie, Mrs Hughes will join the already existing panel of Rt Rev James Mehaffey of the Church of Ireland, Most Rev Anthony Farquhar of the Roman Catholic Church and long time religious broadcaster, Andy Crockart.

The panel meet during the year to advise UTV on its religious programmes such as last year's 'Holy Ground' series which covered topical issues from a spiritual and ethical viewpoint and is assisting with a new series of religious documentaries being produced for UTV which will be shown in the autumn.

Reacting to her appointment Mrs Hughes commented, 'The opportunities given by UTV and the media in general for religious programming are very important to all the churches and I hope to be able to play a part in helping create programmes which present religious belief in a relevant and interesting way that is also good television to watch.'
