Over 7000 Presbyterians from all over Ireland are expected at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra this Saturday 11 May between 10.30am and 4.30pm for a day of FUN.
Organised by the Presbyterian Church's Sunday School Department, the event attracts all ages and combined with the usual attractions of the park are displays and events that include the RIR Climbing Wall, Miniature Trains, Sheep Dog work, PSNI Dogs, Falconary, Irish Dancing, Ariel Slides, Penalty Kick competitions, the Ulster Model Car Club, Belfast Bell Ringers and the PSNI Brass Band.
Organising the mammoth event along with a team of 200 helpers is the Presbyterian Church's Sunday School Organiser, Rev Ian McKee. " On the day, to see the fun and enthusiasm etched on people's faces makes all the hours of detailed organisation worthwhile. Many of our Sunday Schools were finding it more and more difficult to find somewhere suitable for the traditional Sunday School Outing and the idea of a fun day has been a great success providing a safe venue with lots of things to do. A measure of its success was the huge disappointment when last year's event was cancelled due to the foot and mouth outbreak."
Making a guest appearance will be Presbyterian Moderator Dr Alastair Dunlop who will be in the park between 2.00 and 3.00pm.
The fun day also highlights the Sunday School and Youth Project for this year 'Building Hope' which is supporting the rebuilding of the Mission Girl's School badly damaged in the Gujarat earthquake and Willow Brook, a supported housing programme for people with learning disability run by the Presbyterian Church.
Press Arrangements: Press are welcome at any time during the day. Stephen Lynas will be in the park and can be contacted on his mobile (tel:07802 264354) should you require any help.
