In a departure from usual Easter holiday arrangements, members of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland have decided to hold a 'denominational' holiday from April 1st - 5th 2002. It will take place at the Share Centre, Lisnaskea and it is expected that over 150 family members of all ages will join in for a week of fun and fellowship. Accommodation is provided in chalets, the caravans and the Share Centre Guest House itself.
Now in it's 10th year, the Presbyterian Church holiday has proven a successful way of helping families relax together, with the added bonus of Christian teaching in an informal way. Each day will commence with a time of worship followed by the varied leisure options available at the Share Centre. These include windsurfing, archery, hill-walking, canoeing, tennis as well as more laid back activities such as the leisure pool, massage pool, sauna or TV room.
After dinner in the evening, children and young people will have a specially prepared programme led by the Presbyterian Church Youth Team whilst the adults will spend an hour in more focused Bible study. Teaching this year will be led by Rev Leslie Addis, minister of Woodlands congregation in Carrickfergus. A self confessed Liverpool FC fanatic, Leslie is married with 3 children. Representing the Holiday Committee is Rev Stephen Williamson minister of Strabane Presbyterian Church. He comments:
"It may be unusual in many people's mind for us to organize a 'presbyterian' holiday as such. In this day and age people seem to prefer to make their own arrangements. It has been our experience however that this time together benefits us all spiritually as well as physically. There's no shortage of fun either, with such a range of things to do for everyone. We are really looking forward to it."
A small number of spaces at full board are still available. Anyone interested please phone Mavis Cunningham on (028) 9263 8893.
