A Presbyterian congregation in East Belfast is hosting a special evening of music, story telling and recollection in celebration of the area in which they worship. Bloomfield Presbyterian Church, situated on the Beersbridge Road, will host the evening, entitled "Memories of East Belfast" on Saturday, April 20th, admission is free.
The event, which commences at 7.30pm, will recall the importance of local industries such as the shipyard, focus on the sporting achievements of teams like Glentoran and will feature the many memorable characters and their traditions which used to dominate the local area. "Memories of East Belfast " is open to all age groups and will conclude with a free supper.
Organizing the event is Associate Minister Rev Howard Lewis. He comments: "East Belfast has changed so much in recent years - often not for the better. What we want to do with our event, is recall those people and those moments which are rooted so much in our local past. It is also important for us as a church to maintain real ties with the people that live around our building. By staging this evening of family fun, we want to remind the people of East Belfast that we exist to serve them in the future."
