This Friday February 15th marks a significant date in the life of a growing Presbyterian church in County Antrim, as they prepare to embark on an ambitious new building project.
Dundrod Presbyterian Church, situated between Antrim and Lisburn, will unveil plans to build an extensive hall, with a short service of dedication at the proposed site, Leathemstown Road, Dundrod, on Friday at 11am. The service will be attended by Presbyterian Moderator Dr Alastair Dunlop along with Dundrod minister, Rev John Brackenridge.
Costing £450,000, the construction commences next Monday and is expected to be completed by November 2002. The building will contain designated crèche facilities, committee rooms, a church office, youth hall, kitchen and changing rooms for sports activities. The building of the hall is part of a wider project sub titled "Meeting Today's Needs and Tomorrow's Vision." John Brackenridge explains:
"The title of this project really sums up the fact that the hall and it's future use, is something which has been very much driven by members of Dundrod Church. In particular, the young people in our congregation have contributed to this plan. We put emphasis on their development in terms of body, as well as mind and soul. To that end the new changing rooms will add to our existing sports pitch. As a congregation we also believe that the project will benefit our whole community here and increase our capacity to welcome people into our fellowship."
