Sunday Schools Set For Repeat Success

Sunday School members from across the Presbyterian Church in Ireland are planning once again to descend on the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Culta, for their annual Fun Day, Saturday 11th May 2002, starting at 10.30am.

Last year over 10,000 Sunday School and youth fellowship members from all over the island had planned to travel to Cultra but due to the Foot and Mouth Crisis, the huge event was called off.

Money raised from this year's Fun Day will go to the Building Hope Sunday School and Youth Project for 2001/02. Beneficiaries will include Earthquake victims and the Gujarat Girls High School in North India as well as Willowbrook, a supported housing project for people with learning disability, based in Coleraine.

Rev Ian McKee is responsible for organizing the mammoth day out. He comments:

"The Fun Day is undoubtedly the highlight of the Sunday School year. To see over 10,000 people gather together for a day of fund raising activity gives us a real sense of satisfaction. Last year was such a great disappointment, but there was no way realistically that we could go ahead This year however, we are planning an extensive programme and really hope to make up for missing out 12 months ago."

Reduced tickets priced £2.50 or 4 Euros before April 12th 2001, can be obtained from the Sunday School Office, Church House, Belfast, (028) 9032 2284.
