Christmas season is a reminder that "People Matter" says Moderator in Christmas Message

In his Christmas message Presbyterian Moderator Dr Alastair Dunlop has emphasised that the Christmas season is a reminder that "People Matter"

The full text of his message follows:

Family and friends matter. Christmas is an excellent opportunity to show, in practical ways, that we appreciate and enjoy them. As we spend time together this Christmas, sharing hospitality and exchanging gifts, let us show our family and friends how much they matter.

Christmas is also a great opportunity to bring some love and hope into the lives of those without family or friends - the homeless, the displaced, the hungry, the poor. There are many in our society who can ill afford to spend scarce resources on gifts and luxuries, and many in other societies who cannot begin to imagine the diversity of choice and abundance that we enjoy. This Christmas let us also show in practical ways how much they matter.

Most fundamental of all, Christmas is about the amazing love of God in sending Jesus to be born to die for people like us. That’s how much we matter to God. The baby in the manger is the Son of God. He set aside the privileges of deity, and took on the status of a nobody. It is a miracle of enormous proportions. This Christmas let us reflect on how much people matter to God, and let us respond by giving him our love, our trust and our service.
