Church Calls For Prayer

Individual members of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland are being urged to pray for the denomination and it's work with the publication of a new Points for Prayer Handbook. Produced for the incoming new year, over 15,000 handbooks are being distributed and sold throughout congregations in Ireland over the coming weeks.

The Points for Prayer Handbook contains facts and information on the broad range of activities that Presbyterians are engaged in. This includes detail on personnel serving in over 21 overseas countries as well as home based ministries. For each day of the month the Handbook has two pages, with prayer points split between home and abroad.

The Presbyterian Church has also sought to develop prayer ministry by the addition of 'Prayerline,' a phone service enabling members to find out the latest information on church missionary activity. In recent years the Prayerline service has been extended by the free emailing of prayer news to 'online' Presbyterians and on the PCI website. Commenting on the Points for Prayer Handbook, Moderator Dr Alastair Dunlop said:

"The Handbook encourages intercession for all ministries both at home and abroad. It also provides a vast amount of detail about the Presbyterian Church which members may be unaware of. I would encourage people to get a copy and prayerfully reflect on the information inside."

Copies available from local agents or from Church House, Belfast, priced £1.50/ 2.5 Euros.
