Moderator Visits Harvest Celebrations

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Alistair Dunlop commences a busy weekend of church visits throughout the Province, beginning in Ballynahinch this Friday night (19th October 2001). The Moderator joins with 1st Ballynahinch Presbyterian as they celebrate the 250th anniversary of their church building at 8pm. On Saturday afternoon, Dr Dunlop makes his first appearance as Moderator to Sloan Street Presbyterian Church at 3pm, where he will dedicate the opening of a brand new Youth center at the church.

On Sunday Dr Dunlop will pay a return visit to 1st Portglenone congregation, where he will conduct the morning Harvest Festival service at 12 noon. Dr Dunlop was minister of 1st Portglenone for a ten year period between 1973 ­1993 and has fond memories of his time in the County Antrim area. Later on the Moderator then travels down to Drumbo Presbyterian Church, near Lisburn where he will conduct their evening Harvest service at 6.30pm.

On Monday night Dr Dunlop continues to celebrate the Harvest festival season in the Mournes, as he visits the fishing town of Kilkeel. As well as sharing with the 1st Kilkeel harvest service, the Moderator will dedicate a new kitchen recently extended on to the church.
