As the full horror and tragedy of Tuesday's events in the USA continue to unfold the leaders of Ireland's four main Churches have issued the following statement encouraging everyone to take part in acts of reflection and remembrance.
"We wish to further express our sorrow and pain at the tragic events in the USA.
"As the full picture begins to emerge many people will want to reflect on events in prayer.
"Therefore we ask all our churches to respond in a way appropriate to their own local community. We would encourage all our people to engage in a time of prayer and reflection, particularly this Friday, for our brothers and sisters in the USA and elsewhere who are suffering so much at this time."
