Special Services For American Tragedy

Presbyterian churches in several larger towns and cities across the Republic will be open tomorrow (Friday 14th September 2001) for special services to reflect on the New York and Washington plane bombings. Some congregations will meet for a structured act of worship, while other buildings will be open for people to engage in private prayer. Commenting on the tragedy former moderator Dr Trevor Morrow, minister of Lucan Presbyterian, Dublin, said, "Like so many others we find it difficult to take in the scale of what has happened. We as Christians cannot give an easy answer for this suffering. But we do urge people throughout Ireland to uphold America in prayer at this time. By opening our churches this Friday, we are encouraging people to seek God during these dark days."
