Friday is expected to be a quiet day at the Assembly with the first item on the agenda the report of the Trustees.
The United Appeal Board is responsible for much of the funding for the corporate work of the church including supporting overseas work, evangelism and social witness. It requires to raise an annual budget of around £2.5m and it reports that the target for 2000 was exceed by £230,000 enabling it to pay all its promised granys in full. The proposed target for 2002 has been set at £2,739,500.
The Board of Studies will report on the continuing refurbishment plans for Union College and the Assembly will be asked to accept 8 new student for the Presbyterian ministry.
In the afternoon the Board of Finance and Administration will make its report highlighting an increase in annual income of the church of about 3% against a smaller fall in membership that has been experienced in recent years of 1%.
The Assembly is expected to finish at around 3.00pm with a closing worship and an address by the Moderator Dr Alastair Dunlop.
