Moderator Makes The Most Of Co. Down

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Trevor Morrow will get an opportunity to see around scenic County Down as he embarks on a tour of Down Presbytery, week beginning this Sunday, 4th February 2001.

On Sunday morning Dr Morrow pays his first visit to Ballygowan Presbyterian Church, at 11.30 followed by a short journey on to 1st Comber in the evening, service commencing at 6.30pm.

During Tuesday morning the Moderator will get an opportunity to talk with ministers in 2nd Comber manse at 10.15 am. This informal gathering gives Dr Morrow a chance to listen to ministers' needs and hear of broader concerns at a grassroots level. In the afternoon he travels to meet with the children and teachers of Drumaghlis Primary School near Kilmore at 2.30pm. Then in the evening Dr Morrow will be the guest at the Presbytery of Down, who meet along with other Presbyteries throughout Ireland, to nominate Dr Morrow's successor.

On Wednesday 7th February Ballynahinch manse will host another meeting of ministers after which Dr Morrow will travel to Downpatrick where he will visit Downe Hospital and Down District Council in the afternoon. During the evening he will speak at the mid-week meeting of Lissara Presbyterian Church near Crossgar, to which all local Presbyterians have been invited starting at 8pm.

Thursday morning sees the Moderator 'Under the Spotlight' at 2nd Killyleagh PWA with Rev Norman Cameron leading the ladies in questioning. This will take place in the church hall over coffee at 10.30am. That evening Dr Morrow looks in at the Edge Drop In Centre in Ballynahinch at 8pm accompanied by Rev Mairisine Stanfield.

After much activity, the Moderator joins in support of his wife Carys as she meets with ministers wives on Saturday morning in Spa manse at 10.30am. The week long Presbytery tour rounds off on Sunday 11th February as Dr Morrow visits Downpatrick at 11.30am and speaks at a Presbytery Rally in 2nd Saintfield at 7pm. Praise at the rally will be led by the Touch Down Praise Band, a group of young musicians from across the Presbytery.
