Renowned Dutch Speaker Visits Belfast Church

A widely known Dutch Christian commentator will be the main speaker at a morning seminar organised by Cooke Centenary Presbyterian Church, Ormeau Road, on Saturday 27th January at 10 am. Noor Van Haften, a journalist, author and producer in the Netherlands will be speaking on "Finding God Amidst Life's Pains."

Noor, who works on both television and radio, will deal with issues that impact on people's lives as a result of difficulties, dissappointment or sorrows. Using insights from the Bible and from her own experience, Noor aims to provide pointers through the rying periods of life. In Belfast, she will be discussing marital stress, looking at Leah and Naomi from the Old Testament. Noor will also deal with the story of Joseph, focusing on hope in a hopeless situation.

She has spoken in many countries and recently gave two outstanding addresses at the 2000 Focusfest Conference in Coleraine, where she shared a platform with Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham. Noor is best known for her work "A Refuge for my Heart - Trusting God When Things Go Wrong." She also spent many years working for the IFES Student Christian organisation in Austria, where she originally studied.

Rev Jim Campbell is minister of Cooke Centenary Church. He comments, "We are really pleased to have Noor Van Haaften visit us for this morning seminar. She really has wide experience of the personal problems people under go and she is in an excellent position to help people in difficult circumstances."
