Local Presbyterians Call For Hospital Funding

Local members of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland are urging members of the Northern Ireland Executive to increase funding at Craigavon Area Hospital. Representing thirty Presbyterian congregations in the county, the Presbytery of Armagh, issued the call to politicians at their recent November meeting in Richill.

The full text of their statement reads:

"The Presbytery of Armagh unanimously agrees at its November meeting to place on record its appreciation of the excellent work done by the staff of the Craigavon Area Hospital. It congratulates all concerned and notes the commendations which the hospital and staff have received from professional health bodies.

It is aware that the staff is working with an increasing number of patients, an acute shortage of beds and a minimum of staff and facilities. It would lend its support to the Hospital for more finance so that it can supply an even better service to the area. The Presbytery would call upon the Executive to make more funding available to the Hospital Service."
