As another season of competitive racing draws to a close, bikers from all over Northern Ireland will get an opportunity to reflect on the past year at a special "Bikers Service" to be held in Bellaghy Presbyterian Church, this Sunday, October 22nd at 3.30pm.
This service has been jointly organised by Rev Noel Agnew, minister of Bellaghy Presbyterian Church and Rev John Kirkpatrick, minister of Portrush Presbyterian. Both serve as Chaplains to the Motorcycling Union of Ireland.
John and Noel are well known throughout the biking community for their invaluable work with riders and their families. Most notably, they play a key role during road races such as the Ulster Grand Prix and the NW 200 as well as short circuit racing, by looking after families and helping with personal concerns.
Rev Noel Agnew comments:
"I think there is a sense in which people within the community are asking questions as never before about the whole issue of life and death in racing. Equally, there is a real sense in which supporters of the sport have felt under attack from people outside the racing fraternity. The service this Sunday has been very much organised to show Christian love and concern to bikers and their families. Hopefully it will enable them to think through the issues which have been raised this year and show them that, as chaplains, we are there to support them in their times of need."
