Presbyterians Support Jubilee 2000 Day Of Prayer

Presbyterian congregations have been called to a special day of prayer on Sunday 23 July in support of the cancellation of third world debt.

While the General Assembly in June welcomed the relief of debt so far announced it recognised that not all debt had been cancelled. In a resolution it supported Jubilee 2000 in its continued lobbying of governments, particularly those members of the G8 economic grouping, for the total and immediate cancellation of the remaining debts of the world's poorest countries.

The day of Prayer called by Jubilee 2000 and supported by the Presbyterian Church coincides with the final day of the next G8 summit meeting.
