Presbyterian Moderator Dr Trevor Morrow begins a series of visits to holiday destinations around Ireland this Sunday 2 July, when he travels to the north coast to Portstewart and Ballycastle.
The Moderator's day begins in Portstewart where he will conduct morning worship at 10.30am. A moderatorial visit in early July has become quite a tradition at the seaside congregation thought this will be the first of these visits to be hosted by Portstewart's recently installed minister Rev Terry Laverty.
In the afternoon the Moderator will visit York House, one of 7 homes for the elderly run by the Presbyterian Residential Trust throughout Ireland. During his visit Dr Morrow will meet the 32 residents and conduct a short service of worship.
In the evening it is on to Ballycastle where the Moderator will take part in evening worship at the local Presbyterian Church starting at 7.00pm.
'While most congregations are not as busy during the summer months, it is quite different in these seaside congregations,' says Dr Morrow. 'With an influx of visitors and holidaymakers there are great opportunities for the church and by my visits I want to encourage these 'holiday' congregations in all that they do.'
In following weeks Dr Morrow will be in Castlerock, Newcastle and Ballywillan.
