If you're a Presbyterian all roads lead to the Folk Park at Cultra this Saturday, 13 May, for the Fun Day organised by the Church's Sunday School Department.
'Over 5000 tickets have already been sold for the day,' says Ian McKee, Sunday School organiser for the Presbyterian Church. 'With the good weather and a range of exciting fun events on offer in the superb setting of the Folk Park we're looking forward to a really great day.'
Events run between 10.30am and 4.30pm and include all the usual fun activities like face painting, bouncy castles etc. as well as dog handling displays , a penalty kick competition with Johnnie Jamison, music from the RUC Band, story telling and a display of Irish dancing. In addition there will be the usual folk park activities including scarecrow making, butter making and a blacksmith's display
Also there will be a supervised climbing wall, ariel slides, orienteering through the park and several physical challenges for the more active Presbyterians.
Among the VIP's attending are the Mayor of North Down, Mrs Marion Smith who will be arriving at 2.00pm and who expects to stay for about an hour and the Presbyterian Moderator, Dr John Lockington.
Assuming Dr Lockington is not detained at the 'Stocks' he will conduct what's described as a 'fun time of praise' at 2.45pm in Kilmore Church, one of the places of worship that are included in the Folk Park's own buildings.
While the emphasis is very much on fun the day has a more serious slide to it raising money for the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice, Stewart's Hospital and School, Dublin and for the production of Sunday School materials for use in Brazil, Malawi and Jamaica.
